Name: Gordon
Age: Just under 3 Years. Fall, 2017
Gender: Male
Genetics: Bernese Mountain Dog x Akita
Pack: Loner
Personality: By all outward appearance, Gordon is your average canine. However.. on the inside this is not entirely true. While he is able to recognize certain basic emotions - such as happiness, sadness, seriousness or anger, some of the more complex ones such as the concept of love and guilt have little to no immediate meaning or effect on him. Gordon suffers from a condition known as Neurosis, which largely influences the way he behaves and reacts to most things. Most of his actions are likely to seem egoistic, perhaps even somewhat immature or childish, to a lesser extent. Because of his current mindset, he may easily be influenced if done so in the right fashion, into something good or very bad.
Arrogant/Confident - Gordon has a simple minded belief that he is just better than everyone. There's no rhyme or reason to this, while he is smart, tough, and able-bodied, he is not the smartest nor strongest. He will quickly grow annoyed with anyone who disputes this, and either simply ignore them or become angry and perhaps violent. Due to his confidence as well, he may often take random or unnecessary risks without much thought for his safety. Because of his belief that he is the center of the universe, Gordon does not always engage in physical conflict. Though when he does, he is prone to taunting and gloating if he feels he has the upper hand. Most of the time he is civil or perhaps even nice unless given a reason to behave otherwise.
Easily distracted - because of a rather short attention span, Gordon can be distracted by just about anything that interests him. He has habits of suddenly and randomly breaking off conversation without any warning, or changing subjects at will. This does not make him the most understanding guy, but in spite of his mindset he is able to recognize the seriousness in certain situations, and usually will try his best to help or advise anyone feeling gloomy. Flirting is not a tactic that can be effectively utilized on him, as he usually will either ignore it or be puzzled.
Paranoid - Gordon is almost instinctively mistrusting of any new faces he meets that manage to keep his attention for longer than a few seconds. He has a tendency to jump to irrational conclusions quite easily, sometimes believing that literally everyone in the world is out to kill him and only him. While this paranoia is the most severe, when present it causes him to be quite jumpy and easily scared. He is also prone to bouts of clumsiness, and has an absolute fear and hatred of spiders.
Lazy/Procrastinator - Don't count on him to get anything done. Gordon does what he wants, when he wants to. This even includes such mundane tasks as eating or looking for shelter. He will put just about any non-life threatening task off as long as possible, because he doesn't care. So his productivity in a pack or any group situation is most likely going to be zero unless he is guaranteed some benefit for himself.
Smart/Honest - despite the fact that he is lazy, Gordon is quite smart. He loves learning, exploring new places, meeting new faces, and can remember just about every insignificant detail about anything important. However he is prone to error when forced to make 'in the moment' choices, as he has a tendency to act first and often times irrationally which causes mistakes. But also makes things interesting, since most of what he will say is honest, or at least he believes it to be. Any promise he makes, though they are rare indeed, can be counted on to be kept.
Talkative - Lastly, Gordon loves to talk. He will talk openly with anyone willing to engage in conversation, and if not, or when there is no one around...? Well, that's no matter. He's quite comfortable carrying on full conversations with himself. He should definitely not be interrupted when on a rant, as this will frustrate him to no end most of the time.
Height: 27 in.
Weight: 104 lbs. / up to 120 or more when healthy.
Appearance: Gordon's fur color is predominantly black on his head, neck and back, with some trace amounts of brown mixed in sporadically. There are also patches of white which are mostly on his face, the underside of his chin, chest, stomach, and legs. What would normally be a smoother but lengthy coat similar to an akita is usually somewhat messy looking, and perhaps matted or tangled from lack of care. His ears are the only other display trait of his akita blood, although even they droop slightly. More than a few scars are present along his muzzle as well as on the rest of his body, the most prominent being on his left shoulder. Not necessarily the tallest of canines but still of decent height, Gordon is broad chested and muscular, although he is usually underweight and will look thinner than he should.
History: Born to a sane mother and a father who was anything but, Gordon and three siblings were the product of an unlikely pairing which lasted all of a few hours. With no father from birth, his mother was forced to care for the family entirely on her own. At first he was as healthy and normal as any pup, but it quickly became apparent that not all was right with him. But a mother who didn't care all too much for her family, he and his siblings were not loved as perhaps they should've been, although she did protect them. It was at about three months of age that their estranged father returned, demanding to take two of his offspring with him. When refused, the male went on a ferocious rampage, presumably killing all three of Gordon's siblings, although he still does not know for sure. Rarely does he think back to it. Spared only because he was the one pup to attempt fighting back, Gordon was ripped from his mother and later found her dead due to what he assumed was the cause of unintentionally consuming poisoned food and left her to lie there.
It was during the next few months spent with an abusive dad that most of his personality flaws developed further. While Gordon's father attempted to shape his son into something similar to himself, it didn't work out very well. Growing frustrated with his son's apparent lack of progress, he attempted to kill his son, only to discover that not all of his teachings had been in vain. Gordon's first kill was his father, and he felt little guilt over it. Without much purpose anymore, he took to wandering the apocalyptic countryside, going wherever he pleased.
